Vijfhuizen
Some local inhabitants of Vijfhuizen took up the initiative to find a solution for their own future senior housing. Important starting points for them were staying independent and socially involved as long as possible. Within the apparent contradictory restrictions for the program and location Roeleveld-Sikkes Architects came up with a strong design solution.
Several requested aspects were considered in the design – as community living, contemporary design with a high market value and creating a potential eye-catching ‘entrance building’ for Vijfhuizen. As such, the urban and architectural qualities of the design convinced the jury. The members of ‘De Woongemeenschap 55+’, the future senior inhabitants, highly preferred the Roeleveld-Sikkes Architects project as well.
The design consists of six villas. One villa counts nine different-sized apartments in both rental as profitable sector. All apartments have flexible floor plans, offer large amount of privacy and are fully suitable or adjustable for disabled people. The common space and garden can be reached by a social and safe routing. The individual as well as the common living quality are important. For the landscaping design Roeleveld-Sikkes Architects would like to acknowledge Vlug & Partners (Landscape designers) for their inspiring input.
We believe that the proposed plan has a high quality and future market value. The members of ‘De Woongemeenschap 55+’, as future residents, have enthusiastically embraced the plan.
